Bored Now

Buffy lovers will recognize the subject as the line Willow said when she went evil and tried to destroy the world. Boy, do I get it! Boredom is the worst, and I have suffered from it often in my life.

I’ve had jobs so boring that within a few weeks, it made me physically ill to be there. I can think of three right off the bat. Friends would ask me, “Why are you always changing jobs?” Well, now they know.

Places bore me after a while, too. After I’ve learned my way around, and photographed everything I want to see, I can’t wait to leave. I’ve never understood people who can be born, live, and die in one town–I’d go nuts–but to be fair, they don’t understand me either. πŸ™‚

I want to go somewhere new, and I’m pretty sure I’ve had enough of Florida. I’ve been all over central and south Florida, so the only area that might be “new” to me is the northern section. One problem though: rents everywhere have gotten so high, I can’t afford to do anything. I can’t stay where I am much longer (they just raised my lot rent $40/month; gawd knows what it will be next year), and selling my place is difficult. It needs work after that hail storm three months ago, and I don’t have the money to pay for it.

That’s the other thing. There isn’t much work lately, and I don’t see that improving anytime soon. If you’re middle class or lower income, it’s a struggle just to survive. Plus, I live in Florida, which is currently run by a Trump-wannabe fascist. Medicare was never expanded in this state, and getting help of any kind is next to impossible.

But say I packed up my shit and hit the road. Where would I go? America, coast to coast, has become a country where I no longer feel at home. The south is fighting a second Civil War, thanks to the white supremacists, the middle section is super boring (Oklahoma? Nebraska? Iowa? No thanks), and the northern states are still too cold, and because of that, expensive to heat in winter.

So where does that leave me?

Stuck for now, and bored.

This morning’s sunrise.

Female wood duck at sunset.

Photos are scarce this time, because I haven’t seen much wildlife. 😦 The last few days, it’s been one lone white egret. Hopefully things pick up again when the worst of the heat passes.

See you next time.
