I’ll get to the photos in a minute. First I want to talk about Grey’s Anatomy. It’s been on TV for eighteen years. I haven’t had local networks for decades, but Netflix has seventeen seasons of it, and I decided I’d binge-watch it during the three months I had no work. I just started S16, and I can’t wait to finish it. I mean that. I cannot wait. Ugh.
I loved the medical aspect of the show. I enjoyed the disasters they wrote into each season twice a year. Terrific tension! But damn, did I get sick of their personal lives.
As a writer, I know you have to throw a wrench in shit to keep things interesting. People have to make bad decisions so other horrible things can happen while we watch them dig themselves out. But JFC, is there any woman on that show, other than Jo, who didn’t get pregnant by accident? And if she gets pregnant in S17, don’t tell me, because I seriously don’t want to know. I mean, fuck! It’s lazy writing when you fall back on “OMG, never expected to get knocked up, given how many birth control options we have these days, but now let’s create pathos by ambushing the unsuspecting father with the news, then gnash our teeth over what to do next.”
I’m sick to death of Amelia, Owen, and Teddy. Hate all of them at this point, and honestly didn’t like them much when they first showed up either. Thank gawd for the fast-forward button on the remote. Owen spent half of S15 walking across the set with a kid in his arms. Not his kid, someone else’s, because there weren’t enough children on the show already. Then they threw a teen addict in the mix so Amelia would have something to angst about, and when that storyline finally ran dry, they gave her an accidental pregnancy with the ortho guy, who I don’t even think is hot. though the show’s writers keep insisting he is.
The best thing about S16? The love affair between Schmidt and Nico, and they didn’t do nearly enough with it.
This is a soap opera, and the only one I watched religiously was Dark Shadows, the original. It’s tacky and dated now, with acting that was less than stellar, but at the time, I loved it. Hey, I was fourteen or fifteen! My point being I no longer enjoy soaps. People doing stupid things again and again does not delight or enthrall me.
I don’t know if I can stick it out till the end. At this point, I’ve put in so much time on the show, I feel obligated to get there, but SO tired of pregnancies and babies. There are plenty of people in this world who have no interest in them and certainly don’t want to have any. I’m one of them. Had that taken care of at 22 so I’d never have to even think about it.
When I hear a baby crying, I do not want to comfort it. I want it to shut the hell up. I used to feel guilty about that. I don’t anymore.
If you follow me on FB, you’ve already seen most of these. The first two are pics of the same great horned owl.
The sky was replaced in both photos, because when I took them, the sun was barely up and processing washed out what was there. Be impressed when you look at that second shot; Luminar AI was able to replace the sky despite all the leaves and tiny branches! Simply amazing. You choose the sky (both are mine), click a button, and the program does the rest.
I really like this picture. The red and white insect is a cotton stainer bug (so called because they eat cotton bolls and stain them brown while doing so. What it was doing by me, I have no idea. No cotton fields anywhere nearby.) I love that the ant showed up in one shot. I left it in for size comparison.
One of the fattest ‘gators I’ve seen. What did it eat? I saw it this once and never again. It probably moved on.
I don’t know what this anhinga was doing (bird yoga?), but I found it amusing. 🙂
See you next time.
