Feb 3: Before/After +

Couple of weeks ago, I drove around every morning, looking for something interesting to take pictures of, and accidentally trespassed on someone’s property. I say “accidentally” because I didn’t know I’d done it until I left. Rope was strung across the driveway of an old restaurant that was for sale, and someone before me had plowed right through it. I noticed on my way out. 😉

It’s a terrific spot for a restaurant–on a lake and at the edge of a small town. I’m surprised no one has bought it, but when I think about it, maybe I’m not. Despite Trump crowing about the great economy, it’s only good for the rich. Everyone else is struggling.

This is the before shot.

Cropped, straightened, enhanced in every way possible in Luminar 4… so much fun! I used all kind of tricks on this one, and I’m pleased with how it turned out.

I “lost” the original for this one by stupidly over-writiing it due to not thinking. Heh. What happened was I started to process it and got interrupted, at which point I saved it. Just like that, the original was gone. When I returned days later to finish, I’d totally forgotten that. I ended up with only my final result.

I remember the sky was blown, and the light was not the best. I also took the photo from far, far away. I don’t even know why I bothered with the picture, but I figured why not? It was an opportunity to try some new things.  In Luminar 4, I replaced the sky, slapped on some Mystical and Orton, adjusted color and contrast and did a few other things I won’t bother describing. 🙂

This is what I ended up with.

An eagle I photographed on a road somewhere. I pulled over the minute I saw him.

An Eastern Phoebe. I was at North Park on Lake Istokpoga, walking through the woods, and it landed behind me. Lucky shot!

Early morning fisherman on the lake.

Cute little grebe. A bunch of them hang out on the lake.

See you next time.

You take such wonderful pictures and its nice that you identify the birds as well. I see some of them in my neighborhood here in South Texas but never stop to identify them. We live close to a bird sanctuary and we see all types of birds flying up north or down south and they stop by for awhile. You can always tell when the seasons change, they bird song changes and so do the birds.
