Years ago, when I lived in Wisconsin, I drove into St. Paul in winter to see Brokeback Mountain. I hate driving in winter, but I really wanted to see the film. I got there early, so I explored a little shop down the street from the theater and found a wire basket doused in glitter. The way it shined in the light captivated me.

It’s hard to get a good shot of this thing. I’ve never been able to figure out why. It’s fascinating to look at on a table, but in a picture? Not so much. So I took some macros. I like this one. I can’t even imagine how this basket was made.

This is a long-horned bee. It was about half an inch long. The color caught my attention immediately. It’s not often one sees a blue bee.

This stilt-legged fly was crawling down the lanai wall. Beautiful colors, right? In clothing, orange and red clash. On a fly? Nice. Heh.

See you next time.
