More Pretty Pictures

I have not finished unpacking yet. I got down to the last few boxes and stopped.

One reason is because I’ve run out of places to put things. Apparently I still have too much shit. Another reason is because I was waiting for mice to be caught, so I could clean out kitchen cabinets and then unpack dishes.

Haven’t caught any mice yet. WTF! There is evidence of them everywhere, yet the only trap that went off is in the hall closet, and that’s because I bumped it. Maybe they left?

I have run out of excuses for putting off the last of the unpacking.

–Hang on a sec! No I haven’t. I had to explore a little, didn’t I? And I had to take pictures, because that’s what I do.

<whew> For a minute there, I thought I’d have to buckle down and get the last of it done.

This is the view across the lake. I’ve been told the tall structure is the old clock tower. I immediately thought of Marty in Back to the Future. One used to be able to climb up inside it and check out the views, but it’s allegedly closed. However, if you zoom in, you can see OPEN at the top. I’m getting mixed signals.

Another shot of the gazebo nearest me. I’ve sat there and looked at the lake. Very nice.

These black birds are everywhere at the shore. This one is munching on the berries. What I like most about this photo is the way the light interacts with the palm fronds.

Yesterday, I rode the moped over to Lake Clay. There is my lake, Grassy Lake on one side, and Lake Clay on the other. Lakes everywhere, I ain’t kidding!

Nice ride, nice lake, but none of my shots were anything to write home about… except for this one. This male egret was strutting through someone’s yard, and he was gorgeous, as is the lighting.

See you next time.

The picture of the egret is just stunning, really cool light ! Ethereal, for a lack of a better description. I mentioned this before but how you seem to find the right moment and motive is almost uncanny. If I wouldn’t know better I would say the scenes are searching for you not the other way around 🙂 The egret picture is really a special one. Out of curiosity I did overlay a golden ratio spiral … the light on the green follows the outer line like a guide to the focal point of the picture the perfectly staged head of the beautiful egret.
    Thanks for sharing !
P.s If I would be working for a tourist office of the region, I would be begging you for pictures like this for a brochure or a nature guide of the region.

Several years ago, I visited Asheville, NC, and interviewed for a job with the local tourism promotion agency. Didn’t get it, more’s the pity, or I’d be living there now! 🙂 I’m happy in Florida, though. Lots of things to take pics of. Thanks for your wonderful comment. It made my day.
