The Neighborhood

I was out on the moped with a camera this morning, visiting my favorite spots, and saw these familiar sights.

As if it knew it was Halloween, this cat was sitting on a grassy road in the middle of nowhere. There was no house in sight. I circled back and quickly took a picture. It looks mean, doesn’t it? Like it’s planning mischief and mayhem. Or maybe that is its resting bitch face.

At one of the large canals in the area, I spotted a pair of mottled ducks, enjoying the fine sunny weather. The temperature today is perfect, and there’s a light breeze.

My last stop was at the lake. A large group of ibis were resting in the shade of one of the trees, but the second I pulled in, they headed straight for me. People feed them, and they check out everyone who shows up. Ibis are a common bird here, but the bright orange beaks and beautiful blue eyes make them special.

Here’s a trio of them, at the edge of the water. The dark one is young; they turn fully white when they reach maturity.

See you next time!
