During a break between edits, I processed some pictures. Let’s start with a tricolor heron. I recently picked up some new background textures and wanted to play with them.

Next is one of my favorites, a moorhen. I captured him at the nearby lake. Looks like he’s talking to me, doesn’t it? Or maybe he’s laughing at me. 🙂 I went heavy on the texture for this one. I wanted it a little crunchy.

This cutie is a cattle egret. What a face, eh? He makes me smile. You’ll find them in pastures with the cows and horses. The background was really busy, so of course I replaced it with an equally busy one. Heh. Truthfully? I was experimenting. I rather like the “artistic” look of it.

Last is a picture I took of five chicks in long grass. Their mother is on the left, taking a nap with one eye open. This is the original. Crazy busy, isn’t it? The eye doesn’t know where to land.

I liked the photo, but something had to be done. First thing I did was crop it. Then I cloned out the barely seen chick behind the baby on the right. Now I had something to work with. I desaturated the green and yellow after running it through a Topaz filter. Although the foliage around the chicks is sharp, the rest is blurred. It’s still busy, but now you know what to look at.

That’s it for this time!
