End of the Year Perusal

This will be my last post of the year, as I’m taking next week off for a much-needed break from everything. We have been invited to a New Year’s party where I expect much white_partydebauchery. It may not be a White Party, but we expect to have a great deal too much fun and wake up with hangovers. πŸ™‚

Already, we are planning on spending much of the 1st in bed, whether or not sleep is involved.

______

This week, AJ and I have been fighting pirates again. It hurts us financially when a site offers free downloads of our books, but it’s also vexing they don’t realize this is stealing, pure and simple. I think they should write a book once to see how very hard it is and maybe that will change their minds. Alternately, I could go to their workplace and steal part of their check. Wonder if that would make the point?

______

If you or someone you know has been wanting to pick up Transgression, now’s the time! It’s for sale at Amazon for $1 off until the end of the year. πŸ™‚ Do share this with everyone you know. Christmas money is burning a hole in their pockets, and I wouldn’t mind getting some of it. Ha!

______

Winter is hard upon on us and I’m fighting depression every day. Ugh, I really can’t stand the cold and snow. AJ is handling it better except for the drive back and forth to work after a snowfall. He doesn’t mind gray skies nearly as much as me. There are a good three to four months to go until spring; it seems endless.

I’m already putting out feelers in Florida, and with any luck at all, the move will happen no later than fall next year. ‘Course, anything can happen between now and then, up to and including the end of the world, so I won’t consider it done until I cross the state line and step out of the car to take a picture of a palm tree.

______

I’m writing again, on something entirely new, and I’m not going to jinx it by talking about it so you’ll have to be patient and wait. I am determined to have lots of fun putting this together. I’m also not pressuring myself to finish it by such and such a date. It’ll be done when it’s done.

I will tell you this (because some of you saw the picture I posted recently of a small house on a tiny island in a lake): the story was inspired by that photo.

_____

Wishing you all a terrific end of the year. Here’s hoping 2014 is much, much better than 2013 (and remember to vote out the GOP imbeciles next November!).

You’ll have to peel me out of bed on the 1st. We should make all the food for the day in advance so we don’t starve by not wanting to cook.

  2. Tina Marie says:

I wish you both all the joy and love you deserve in the new year. And that’s a lot of joy & love! Death to pirates and the GOP!

  3. Judy says:

Enjoy the rest of the year, staying in bed, writting and whatever else you can think of to take your mind of the world outside. I’m keeping my fingers crossed 2014 will deliver everything you deserve πŸ˜‰ And thank you, for so many things, the wonderful stories, the beautiful pictures, all the joy and fun you brought to us.

  4. nordicgirl_2013 says:

I hope you both have an amazingly fun and awesome New Year’s party, and that come New Year’s Day you have the appropriate remedies to supplies to ensure a speedy recovery! I wish that 2014 will see you both with an abundance of love and joy (and an early end to the dreary winter), and that your marvellous writing pays off! May the pirates shrivel up and die, or otherwise be caught and prosecuted!

I won’t say much about politics, other than I think the majority of (Northern) Europeans would agree with you. πŸ˜‰

    Hanne

    • Thanks, Hanne. Ya know, I considered moving to Europe, but everything is so expensive now, even visiting would strain the budget. I do hope to return some day… and visit all your famous nude beaches. πŸ™‚

      • nordicgirl_2013 says:

True, the further north you go the more expensive it becomes (particularly for tourists). As income and costs usually roughly corresponds we in Norway don’t feel the pinch as much as they do around the Mediterranean at the moment).

You’re absolutely right about the nudist beaches, we have them even here in Norway. On the SW Coast the Summer is often not very hot nor very long, so it’s a short season for sunbathing or swimming in the North Sea (unless you’re one of those who like ice-bathing… lol).

Anyway, should you guys decide to venture this way some day – give me a holler. With a bit of planning and local contacts there are ways to stretch travel budgets even in a high-cost country.

        • We’ll definitely keep it mind.

I’m nostalgic for the days when people traveled “the continent” often and cheaply after college, even though this was before my time. Heh. Still, travel is a wonderful thing and I’d like to do more of it.

Wishing you and AJ the best, laziest New Year πŸ™‚ You both deserve it. And yes – death to ALL pirates and the GOP. May their naughty bits freeze and fall off in the most unpleasant of ways this winter.

  6. I can only echo what Tina and Hanne have said Fen. Hate having the winter blues, don’t mind the cold but I miss the sun so I could never live where some of my friends live in Scandinavia and do without it for months at a time, groans. I’m loving your idea for New Year’s Day though…a day spent in bed sounds like heaven, all snuggled up. Every happiness to you and AJ for 2014, and think positive thoughts for Florida!! β™₯β™₯ πŸ˜€

  7. Wishing you both some much needed rest and intimicy together
Enjoy the hell out of it πŸ™‚
All the best wishes for 2014 !! I hope it will rock big time
    hugs Dani

  8. suze294 says:

Enjoy the party, and yes with planning, the day in bed – sounds great! Whilst not participating, we have lots of New Years Day dips at the local beaches – talk about bits freezing and dropping off!!
My hoped for Florida holiday wont happen this coming easter now, so you may get there before me – fingers crossed for the warmth!
Best wishes to you both for 2014

  9. Here’s wishing you and A.J. a very happy and fulfilling 2014. (From someone old enough to have spent a summer in Paris, living one block from the Place de la Concorde, for $3 a day.
“Those were the days my friend, we thought they’d never end…..”

    • $3 a day! *sigh* If only! Hope you have a terrific 2014 too.

I loved Paris. Didn’t see nearly enough of it when I was there and really, really hope things change so I can afford to go back. It’s my favorite city.

      • Christine J. says:

Wishing both you and AJ a wonderful New Year. We are switching up our celebration this NYE as well and spending it with friends in what will be our new location sometime in the next few months. (Send positive thoughts for our house to sell soon!). It’s been a pleasure getting to know you in 2013 and I look forward to more connections in 2914. Love and hugs!!

        • Good luck with the move. What area are you relocating to?

I am SO looking forward to 2014. 2013 was not great for the world or our country. AJ and I are okay (*knocks on wood*), but the future looks cloudy in my crystal ball. πŸ™‚

  10. Jaycee Edward says:

You and AJ both have a safe and Happy New Year!! Thinking of you both spending New Year’s Day in bed makes me very happy. ;O) Enjoy the week “off”. You both need and deserve it!

  11. kmac6 says:

I have really enjoyed your posts this year and your free reads you post here. I love your writing style, which is like no other, as it should be. I hope you and AJ have a great NYE party where you get to enjoy each other and your friends with no pressure from other sources. I, however, have a very low tolerance to anything alcohol related and never……never…..want to experience the repercussions of that again lol. I still turn green just remembering “shivers”. I hate that people stoop so low as to pirate your material or anyone else for that matter. I think when they download the material, if that’s how it works, their computer should immediately explode, BOOM, right in their lap and brown goop cover them so everyone knows they are shit. :))
As I shared with you a week or so ago, a little about my life, I will not give you pointers on how not to fall into depression. Not because I don’t care because I do, but I have lived in that world for 4 years now and have received plenty of “helpful tips” that have not helped me at all. I have been much better this year, and for that I am very thankful, but I made it better myself and I know you will do that as well. You are just that person who will not stay down for long, which is good, because we would miss you greatly. May 2014 be better for all of us and for the world in general. Much love and respect to you and AJ both, as you both have made me smile and sometimes laugh out loud or more than one occasion. Be safe and Be careful out there, it’s crazy πŸ™‚

    • It was 40 today and sunny, so Suki and I took our first walk in weeks to enjoy the warm breeze from the west. Tomorrow night, we go back into the deep freeze. I am not a winter person, and Suki despises it. Three-four months until spring, and hopefully soon after that, we move!

  12. Lori S says:

Well, I just happened to have a couple of Amazon gift cards burning a hole in my pocket so I hopped over and picked up your Precog series and Transgressions. I am halfway through the first book and am enjoying it very much! Best wishes for a fabulous 2014!

  13. Karen H. says:

You and AJ have the very happiest of New Year’s and I hope it’s filled with fun, laughter and lots of TMI that is no one’s business but your own. Other than that for 2014 I wish you both much happiness, success and all the sunshine you could possibly want especially for you Theo!

P.S. whatever new story you are writing, I will happily wait for you to share and/or complete as you see fit because it will be worth the wait. Besides in the mean time you still have a couple of stories I need to get my hands on and read, so it’s all good.

  14. valjo44 says:

I’ve actually had a pretty fabulous 2013, in large part due to you, AJ, books, blogs and photos. I love the idea of computers exploding and naughty bits falling off, sad to say I have friends who would be walking around covered in brown goo and bitless! I don’t get why they don’t see it as stealing! Enjoy your New Year’s Eve party……I’m going back to my Theraflu, Motrin and Voyager reruns.

  15. valjo44 says:

I think the first blog I ever read of yours was “I is sick”……:)

  16. valjo44 says:

I kinda jumped around looking at photos and that post caught my eye….:)
