Six Sentence Sunday

This is from the WIP: The Lightning Struck Tower.

New friends Wade and Lily are visiting Gray and Cooper on their houseboat. Wade is speaking.

“The Incident,” he said quietly, but I heard the special emphasis he gave the words. Through the entire narrative, his voice had not risen once. He told his story as if relating something that had happened to someone else. “I was stupid, or maybe I was tired of it all or suddenly feeling brave. I’d found a lipstick my mother left behind and put it on in the bathroom. I could have waited, done this somewhere else, but I didn’t, so maybe I wanted it to happen.”
