Hearts on Fire was kind enough to review Knight of Wands, the second book in the Precog in Peril series. Read it here. Yup, they liked it. I was told it would have gotten five stars but for the “To be continued” ending. Some people have no patience. Heh. Thanks to Don for reading and reviewing!
After leaving Rickardsville, we found ourselves in Guttenburg, IA. This is a wonderful little river town I’d never visited before. It seemed the entire place was built on or near water. Although the day was gloomy and overcast, I took photos. Sometimes you can’t wait for better weather.
This first picture was taken at a scenic overlook which I believe put me in a dangerous position. I couldn’t see traffic coming up and around the bottom curve of the hill. Kind of scary. Was it worth it? Of course!
Click on that sucker to see it enlarged. This isn’t the full pano, which was created using four different photos. I ended up cropping about a third of it off so I could post it here.
The photo below was taken apart from the series used to make the shot above. It shows detail of that long causeway of houses in the center of the picture. Imagine living there during a bad storm!
The drive from Guttenburg to Dubuque is wonderfully curvy and I’m betting, in summer, its beauty knocks your eyes out. This part of the trip follows the Great River Road.
You know you’re in Dubuque, IA when you see this gold-capped tower.
There is a place in Dubuque where you can see four different states at one time. It was too hazy on this trip, but next time… definitely!
On Monday, photos from St Louis, or rather, AJ’s mom’s house, because we didn’t go out much while there. AJ was sick, as most of you know.
Have a good weekend. See you Monday!
