The Colors of Fall. Just Not /This/ Fall

Fall is already here in the city and it’s ugly. Half the leaves are gone already and those that remain on the trees are kind of boring. The reds aren’t rich, the yellows don’t blaze. Maybe it will be different in Wisconsin.

How about a few photos from falls past to remind us how glorious this season can be?

The aspen in the mountain here are quickly turning yellow. Compared to the glory of east coast fall, it look like a blight.

Beautiful photos. It’s such a bummer when Fall isn’t spectacular.

    • Summer started in March, which is unheard of in this part of the country. Then we had a really hot summer, and while the corn loved it, I know the woods didn’t because everything looks wilted. It was a hard year on trees and plants. It’s no wonder fall is not great this year, at least so far. Plus, it started too early. 😦

  3. I grew up in NH, and we would dip the leaves in melted wax and make garlands. They would fade too though. I miss how pretty the leaves were. PA doesn’t offer the same show.

    • I’ve seen fall many places in this country, and it’s pretty damn gorgeous up here near the Great Lakes. There is no fall in Florida. First year I was there, I remember driving home on an impulse just to see the colors. 🙂

Fenraven, you are spoiled. What if you lived in Afghanistan? Or worse, central Texas? Betcha anything that if you were not solitary right now you’d find some color all right. Every effing leaf would be a throb of golden sundrop or somesuch.

PS Thanks for visiting my blog. Wish I could write as often and as well as you, but ah well. I’m a curmudgeon and would rather carp at my friends’ stuff, eh? Be good.
