Arrogance: Who’s Entitled and Who Isn’t?

The answer to “Who’s entitled” is no one. Arrogance makes you sound like a jerk. Arrogance makes people want to punch you in the face. Arrogance is one of the most unpleasant human attitudes to deal with, because those who exhibit it give the impression they’re better than everyone else.

I don’t have a Facebook page. There are reasons for that, but suffice it to say I deleted my account a couple years ago and never regretted it. I’m here, on Twitter, and on Google+.

It seems that George Takei, who is on FB, is not on G+. He has a lot of fans there (around 35K so far have circled him) but he’s stated that he wouldn’t post until he got circled by 250,000 people.

Apparently, G+ has to make it worth his while. Apparently, he thinks he’s more important than he is. It’s not enough to interact with another fan base. He’s gotta have the numbers!

That’s arrogant.

I admire George Takei. He took a small role in what was then a relatively unknown show and turned it into a lifelong working income. He came out about his sexuality. He’s funny and humorous and has some interesting things to say.

But I have to tell ya, George. Your attitude about requiring a certain number of followers before you’ll deign to post really pissed me off.

Who’s entitled to be arrogant? NO ONE.
