Horses on Saturday: Photography

Today, that beautiful creature, the horse, is in the spotlight. These photos were all taken during my house sitting week.

Hooded horses look mysterious, don’t they? And I’m sure they can see perfectly well through them. Did you know? If you’re trying to take a picture through a fence and you move your camera right up against it, the fence will disappear in the picture? True. The camera focuses past the wire.

Here’s a shy horse. He thought I was interesting enough to watch, but he stayed in his small shelter.

This one wasn’t shy. He was merely fenced and I was on the road. This horse is old; you can tell by his swayback.

And finally, a baby horse to round things out. I love the circular hair pattern on his forehead. I’ll have to check back in a few months to see if he still has it.

Lovely! I was surprised the first time I ran across the hoods on horses. Keeps the flies away from their eyes.
