“Done!” I closed the laptop and set it aside.
JJ started unbuttoning his shirt. “Does that mean we can go to bed now?”
I jumped up off the couch. “Yes. I’m tired. My eyes hurt. My brain hurts. The soles of my feet hurt.” I stripped off my shirt and tossed it aside. “Sixty-six thousand words, and I can’t even lay claim to it.”
“What?” He scooped up Suki and went into the bedroom.
Following behind, I said, “Writing from a female viewpoint is weird. I don’t know why I did it. I think I’ll have to use a pseudonym. No one will believe I wrote it.”
He put Suki on the bed. “Send it to AJ then?”
“Yup.” Removing the rest of my clothes, I jumped into bed. “Hurry up. It’s freaking cold in here tonight.”
“You don’t want me to see it?”
“It’s not like anything I’ve written before. You’d be bored.”
“How do you know?” He slid under the covers and moved next to me. “Come here. I’ll warm you up.”
I snuggled next to him. “Body heat. A wonderful thing.”
“I want to read it.”
“Are you insisting?” I turned off the lamp.
He smiled in the dark. Yes, I heard him doing it. “I am. Now shut up and kiss me.”
