Kindle Still Rocks!

I downloaded AJ’s new ebook from Kindle today. And then he and I discovered something:

Send to Kindle for PC

What makes this so cool? Because it will send Word docs (*.rtf, *.doc, *.docx, *.txt), photos, and PDFs straight to your Kindle from your PC.

It’s not just ebooks you can take with you anymore. Now you can save other nifty things AND if you have the Fire, it will read to you. For writers, that’s an attractive thought. You can hear what your writing sounds like. This is often a great way to note awkward sentences and dialogue.

I don’t have the Fire, but in an upgrade, I may get one (and by then, the text reader may sound more like a human and less like a robot). I do have a couple of fanfics I’ve saved from some of my favorite online writers, though. I sent those to the Kindle and now I can reread them when I’m stuck in traffic or have a few spare minutes at work.

I am often blown away by how wonderful current technology is and how fast it’s progressing. I’m old enough to remember when floppy discs were the height of data storage.

It’s better today. By far.

Cool! I have an android tablet and I was THRILLED to realize that I could just save my ebooks into my Dropbox from my computer and read them on the tablet, instead of hooking up a cable or pulling out the SD card like I have to do with my eInk reading.

Sad but true – I remember having an Apple ][e… which had a cassette tape drive. 🙂
