I rarely read reviews of my published work. It’s probably because I don’t want to see anything negative, so I avoid them as much as possible.

Once in a while, though, I gird my loins, do the rounds, see what I’ve missed. Tonight, I stumbled across a 5-star review of A Silence Kept, my ghost story.

Five stars. That’s as good as it gets on this site (GoodReads).

Tonight, I’m happy. I’m thrilled to have written anything that inspired such a reaction from a reader. A reader who, by the way, requested to friend me.

I accepted. Why wouldn’t I?

These are the moments a writer hopes for, and once gained, treasures forever. Words do have power. They have effect. Remember that. What you put out there has meaning to someone.

One reader made some remarks about something I wrote…and transformed my night.
