I mention MLR a lot. They are my primary publisher. But there is another (and yes, I heard Obi Wan’s voice when I typed that, too).
When I finally decided to take a chance and submit some stories, I sent one to MLR and the other to Dreamspinner. I googled gay erotica and those were the prominent names in the list. Actually, position is everything and they were on top and that’s why I chose them. *grin*
I got an email from DSP last night that my story is in edits.
I love initial edits. I never know what I’m going to see when I open the marked up copy, but I know it’s going to be instructive, revelatory, and in the end, a bettering of the story. I send them a shoe. They send it back polished and ready to wear.
I’ve loved working with MLR so very much, I have no qualms about Dreamspinner. Two different houses, two different approaches, two different styles, but their goals are the same: Help me turn my story into the most perfect thing it can be.
